Epsom salts draw impurities from the skin. Those impurities can include bacteria that contributes to acne or excess oil that can clog pores and make acne worse.
How to Use
Epsom salts reduce inflammation and irritation, which both often accompany acne. Add 1 or 2 cups of Epsom salts to running bathwater. Soak for up to 20 minutes.
Epsom salts mixed with essential oils can be used if you prefer. Lavender epsom salts have a calming effect, although they will have no specific value for improving acne. Plain Epsom salts are the least expensive option.
Epsom salts are readily available at drug and discount stores without a prescription. Many acne treatment products are costly and require a prescription.
Soaking in the bath with Epsom salts is the best way to take advantage of their benefits. If you do scrub Epsom salts on your skin, use a soft cloth and massage very gently. Don't use Epsom salts to treat facial acne, as facial skin is too delicate.
