Cystic Acne Scar Treatment


Soft tissue fillers like fat and collagen can be injected under scars in order to even out scarring, according to the Mayo Clinic.


The Mayo Clinic reports that dermabrasion, a technique which uses a fine brush to clear skin cells, and microdermabrasion, which uses small crystals to clear affected skin cells, can be used to clear scarring from cystic acne.

Laser, light, and radio-wave treatments can be used to clear affected skin and encourage the growth of new skin, according to the Mayo Clinic.


The Mayo Clinic reports that a surgical procedure called punch excision can be used to remove an acne scar.


Some scar removal may take more than one treatment to be effective. A dermatologist may switch a patient to another treatment if satisfactory results are not obtained.
