Stay in bed and get lots of rest. Salmonella food poisoning may leave you feeling very tired, so be sure to let your body rest as much as possible. Take a few days off of work to let your body recover from the salmonella bacteria.
Stay hydrated. If you are frequently vomiting and experiencing diarrhea, your body is losing a lot of water. Drink fluids such as water, vitamin drinks and sports drinks to keep you hydrated and replenish some lost minerals.
Place a heating pad on your belly to ease the pain of stomach cramps.
If your food poisoning lasts more than a few days, call a doctor. Your condition may be serious and warrant professional treatment or even a hospital stay if you are severely dehydrated.
If your doctor prescribes antibiotics, be sure and finish the dose. You must always take the full regimen of antibiotics, even if you begin to feel better.
