Taking CoQ10

There are two forms of CoQ10 available through health food stores. Taking either form is very safe. One form contains the active ingredient ubiquinone. The other contains ubiquinol. Ubiquinone is less expensive, but ubiquinol is more easily absorbed and used by your body. For help with an acute injury like tendinitis in your Achilles tendon, ubiquinol will be more effective. If your budget dictates that you use ubiquinone, look for chewable tablets or soft gel capsules. These will be easier for your body to absorb, so you'll get more benefit.

To treat tendinitis, the usual dose is 60 mg two times a day with food. CoQ10 is a fat-soluble nutrient, so it's best to take it with foods that contain some fat. Always check with your physician before adding supplements to your diet.
